About Us


     Colorado Water Protective and Development Association (CWPDA) is a 501-C12 non-profit organization, incorporated in the State of Colorado in 1965. The stated primary purpose of the association is to protect and develop underground and surface waters of the Arkansas River Basin.

     CWPDA has approximately 600 members representing approximately 950 wells. The membership is composed of individuals, corporations, municipalities, and other entities that own or control wells within the Arkansas River Basin.

     CWPDA members irrigation wells provide sole source and supplemental irrigation water to over 71,000 acres. CWPDA municipal members are primarily the agricultural communities between Fowler and Las Animas and provide water to about 38,000 people.
